What is a Sukajan?
The Sukajan, or souvenir jacket , is a legendary jacket born after World War II that symbolizes the meeting of American and Japanese cultures. Inspired by the personalized jackets of American soldiers stationed in Yokosuka, the Sukajan has evolved into a true symbol of rebellion, freedom, and style. Originally a military souvenir, it has transformed into a fashion icon, worn by those who want to display their independence and boldness. The Sukajan has crossed eras and styles, absorbing new influences without ever losing its splendor.
The Motif of Our Sukajan: Raijin and Fujin
Our Sukajan features a stunning design depicting Raijin , the god of thunder, and Fujin , the god of wind, two of the most powerful and respected deities in Japanese mythology. Raijin, with his raging lightning, embodies brute force and power, while Fujin, with his raging wind swell, symbolizes freedom and change. The design highlights the dynamic between these two natural forces, capturing the energy and majesty of the elements through detailed embroidery. Both gods are beautifully embroidered with silk threads, in vibrant tones and metallic shades, which add depth and shine to the design. This artistic representation of Raijin and Fujin embodies the strength of nature and the balance between destruction and renewal.
