Motif: The chrysanthemum , called "kiku" (菊) in Japanese, is a highly symbolic flower in Japanese culture.
A symbol of longevity , nobility , and purity , it is notably associated with the Japanese imperial family . The imperial emblem of Japan depicts a stylized chrysanthemum with sixteen petals. This motif is often found in kimonos , traditional art objects , and family crests (kamon) .
